Americas Original Pumpkin Ale - Review

This review is one of many Pumpkin Beer and Oktoberfest Reviews.

Beer Reviewed:
Americas Original Pumpkin Ale by Buffalo Bill's Brewery

The first beer I am going to review is Buffalo Bill's Pumkin Ale. I picked this one first because despite the name of Original, I had tried Buffalo Bills' Pumkin Ale and so I was completely new to it. The first thing I noticed as poping the bottle cap was a missing pop. No Prssure! This usualy means a flat beer and it was. I was sadly disapointed beacuse I could tell just by looking at it I was going to be disapointed. The beer was just as it looks flat, flat, and more flat. Not sure if I got a bad batch or this is how the pumpkin ale usualy runs but I like a good head on my beer so it's already out for me as a favorite.

The color of The Original Pumpkin Ale was a brilliant bright orange. This did impress me because as a home brewer myself I know how hard it is to change a beers color to match its flavor. This beer certainly looks like a pumpkin and for that I give it a plus point.

The smell had a distinctive spicy aroma reminding me of a pumpkin pie. The spicy smell however is followed by a undertone of the fruity banana smell of the yeast. not really a fan of the yeasty smell but I still give it a point for it's inital pumpkin punch.

Now for taste! While this beer is fairly light it has a heavy taste which is good. I like thickness whens it comes a pumpkin ale. There is a strong flavor of spice and pumpkin and literately no hop. Once again all good things in a pumpkin brew. While I really did like the taste of Americas Original Pumpkin Ale I can't help but be disappointed in the overall finish due to it's earlier mentioned flatness.

Overall I going to give Buffalo Bill's Americas Original Pumpkin Ale 3 out of 5 stars. If they could get some carbonation going I probably raise that to four stars. Over all its Good but no where close to great!

Oktoberfest & Pumpkin Beer Reviews

I'm going to try something a little bit different on this blog. By different I mean actually blogging.  We are coming into my favorite season of the year (harvest), and that means something else I love Great Seasonal Ales! Every year starting late Summer and into early Autumn breweries start releasing there seasonal brew.  This means Oktoberfest and Pumpkin Ales followed by winter time specials!  I always look forward to the fall for things like apple and pumpkin picking, apple cider, fresh garden veggies, tricker treating, costume parties, my birthday, but mainly the beer.

It's about that time of year so I headed to the package store and my adventure began. This Year I was absolutely bombarded by pumpkin beers and barely had time to skim the Oktoberfest offerings. I know what your thinking, "too much good beer to choose from, Oh No!" I thought the same thing. Luckily for me they sell singles for an outrageous price I just happened to be willing to pay. I loaded up on as many pumpkin ales as I could find, a few Octobers and headed home.

So since I'm going to  drinking all these beers anyway I might as well give them some reviews. Hopefully they will help you to choose a Pumpkin beer you will enjoy. At the very least I'll have these handy for next years trip!

I will make a list of links to my reviews below and ad the beers as I review them.
